How does Shockwave treatment work?
Shockwave therapy or sometimes known as Acoustic wave therapy has been used in medicine for causing the fragmentation of kidney stones.
Radial pressure waves (RPV) are pulses generated by compressed air. This drives a projectile in a cylinder, located inside a hand piece, to a shock transmitter. The kinetic energy generated converts to acoustic energy when it hits the shock transmitter.
Studies show that shockwaves also have biological effects as well as mechanical ones and may stimulate the metabolic process and improve the connective tissue elasticity.
